The larger the serving size, the more you are likely to eat, concludes a new study from Pennsylvania State University. Researchers asked 51 men and women to eat as much macaroni and cheese as they wanted at a no-cost lunch. Regardless of gender, age, or weight, when the portions were large, on average participants consumed about 30% more calories then when the portions were small. Go figure.
Concusion: if you're trying to cut calories, shrink your serving sizes. Try ordering a small plate or splitting your dish with someone else. You'll be just as satisfied.
